The Secret Ingredient is..........Garbanzo Beans!!!!

So in my mission to eat healthier, on Sunday I started trying to follow the Eat Right for your Blood Type "O" Diet. Well it is really more a lifestyle change than a diet. There are plenty of food options but it is definately a change from what we think is good for us, because not everything is good for everyone!

The tradition at my work is that I bake all the cakes for the birthday's in our department. Well that posed a dilemma for me as I am trying hard to follow the "O" diet so I went searching for a recipe that included only ingredients that are allowed. I was surprised to find both a Chocolate Cake and a Chocolate Frosting recipe.

So on my way home I went to the grocery to get all the ingredients that I needed to make all 3 cakes!!

I am not allowed to have traditional flour so in place of the flour this recipe called for using garbanzo beans. I was skeptical how this would taste in a cake but actually I could hardly tell the difference!!

And here is the finished product!!

Ginger Honey Grilled Mahi Mahi

Tonight Hubby and I continued our ritual of making new recipes at least once a week in attempt to spice up our eating habits while at the same time eating healthy!

This morning we went out in search of fresh seafood and while the market that we had been reccommended to try out was closed, we ended up at familar spot and picked up some fresh mahi mahi and tilapia.

When we got home I searched the internet looking for a yummy recipe and I came across this one. Instead of grilling tonight we baked it in the oven and it still came out very good!!

Here are some pictures of what it looked like before it was made and what it looked like when it came out of the oven.

Etsy has brought back a new feature called Alchemy, this is where Etsy buyers/sellers can post requests for items. I have spent the past couple weeks searching through and bidding on things. Even though I have only gotten one bid accepted so far it is kinda fun going out shopping trying to find items to fit a specific item that some one wants. I feel like it a new way to express my creativity!! Here are some mock up pics of ideas I have bid on!!

My Weekend in NYC

Last weekend I flew into New York to visit my best friend !!! I haven't seen her since Christmas time and we always have the best time when she is here for that week, we get to hang and do lots of girly stuff and shop and talk and drink tea!!! So we decided it was time for a girls weekend and it rocked!!

PeeWee was there to greet me when I got in from the airport and it made me miss my three doxies back at home!!

We spent Saturday walking around the town and checking out lots of shops and got breakfast from the best doughnut place ever however, I cannot remember the name of it!! I had a Vanilla Bean and Orange doughnut and we shared a chocolate one!!! They were so yummy definately will be going back there next time I return to the city!!

On Sunday we got up and went to Bliss and had the most amazing massage!! It was 105 minutes long and was definately a slice of heaven! They put hot parrafin on my feet and cool cucumbers on my eyes!! I could definately get used to that kind of life!!

After our massages we went to Brunch and then hit up Economy Candy where we got into all kinds of trouble as you can see from the pictures we took before we dug into it all.

Here is a picture of Candice and Mike being silly with the gummy teeth that she picked out : )

And one of PeeWee trying to get at our sugar stash!!

After our candy expedition we went to Baby Cakes Bakery to pick up some tasty little vegan cupcakes to enjoy while we had a cup of tea at Sympathy for the Kettle. We had lots of tea while I was there and had lots of great talks!!
I went home on Monday and it is always sad to leave Candice and I can't wait until we live near each other again and can hang out all the time whenever we want!!!
